Chicago - USA

I went to visit the USA for a second time almost a year ago. It was a three weeks’ vacation mostly solo travel but also some days with friends and family. Since a friend of mine studied near Chicago I choose to not only spend the time in New York, my next Saturday blog is going to be about this visit, but also have a five day visit to this city I have never been to before. I am glad that flights in the USA are so cheap. I was great to see my friend and explore China Town with him but the visit wasn’t at all what I planned. I had really bad luck with the weather, it was raining and storming most of the time. I tried to make the best out of it exploring some art in diverse museums and tried to spent as much time as possible outside exploring. At least the first day was nice.

Since in New York I was either in a hostel or staying with my cousin and also a weekend with my family in Vineland, therefore I needed some privacy. That is why this time I booked a room on my own with shared kitchen and bathroom. It was half an hour north from the center with the train, but it was a cute area and I spent most of the day out of the room anyway. But that way the room was actually cheaper than a hostel bed.

In the following you’ll see some pictures, the ones I could take without purring sky 😉

This is the quiet area north where I had my room.

Isn't this area cute, doesn't feel like in a big city.

Picasso art.

View over the Millennium Park from the Cindy's Bar, totally for free.

Unique fountain in the Millenium Park.

Inside the Cultural Center with diverse art shows.

This guy knows how to present his name...

Architectrue explored by boat.

Isn't this a unique parking lot?!

The "bean" and part of the skyline.

Underneath the "bean", this art is really beautiful.

The Millennium Park is really all about art.

Lake Michigan and the Navy Peer. Looks like the ocean, but it is a huge lake.

Buckingham Fountain, shortly before the rain started again...

Art all over the city.

Prom night :) It was a bless to be there at a perfect timing.

Fanastic art again.

Yes you are!

Walking by Lake Michigan.

This shows how windy it was which to me made it look like a desert.

Well, there was not skyline to me ;)

Museum time.

A bit skyline at least, even if the blue sky was missing :)

Art Insitute of Chicago.

Can't tell you why, I really like this.

This museum has so many different art to offer.

Asian art always get's me.

Love this light.

Look out of the museum.

I had my first deep dish pizza at Gino's East. I really loved the flair.

Shortly before leaving I had a second one (surely not on the same day, this little thing really fills you up) at the Exchequer Restaurant and it was sure the best pizza I ever had!

Rain again...

My bad luck on this trip didn’t end with the weather to ruin my trips but also my return to New York. The storm was so big that ALL flights to New York got canceled. This is the bad part about booking with a cheap airline, is hat no refunds so I paid more than double price for the return ticked than the plane ride both ways and got an almost 24-hour train ride back to New York. It was a Tuesday morning but I returned Wednesday night instead. The first flight would have been on Thursday but they where not sure if it would take off, so I took the long ride and was so glad when I returned to New York. But well, not everything can go well all the time I suppose…
