When I told people I‘m going to visit Bruges almost everybody mentioned the movie “In Bruges”. If you haven’t watched it, I saw it afterwards and it was fun to revive the journey. Bruges really is as beautiful as the movie presents it in a weird but funny way. In Flemish it is calles Brugge, in French Bruges and in German Brügge. It is full of old and beautiful buildings with a unique flair and I would love to spent some more time again. I left on a very rainy day and the time for my road trip was limited, but I really enjoyed it.
First of May Parade
I woke up from trompets and drums because the parade for the first of May passed by my hostel. I hurried up and followed the parade for a unique “sightseeing tour” through the city. Such a positive vibe and no aggressive demonstrations like they happen in Berlin, my hometown, every now and then… I have no clue what their flags and slogans where telling but it felt really positive to me. Windmills and bicycles are the symbol for the Netherlands for me, now I learned that some regions in Belgium not only share the language but also the flair. Such a great holiday feeling!
